FUNERAL OF PETER SPEICHER

Buried This Morning in Somerset County--Testimony of Railroaders as to Manner of His Death

The funeral of Peter Speicher, who was killed on the Somerset & Cambria Branch Saturday afternoon, took place this morning from the Fry Church, a short distance south of Davidsville, Somerset County, interment being made in the church cemetery.

The remains were prepared for burial Saturday evening by Undertaker John Henerson, who conveyed them that night to the home of Jeremiah Boyer, a brother-in-law of the deceased, on Hochatein Hill in Upper Yorder Township. The funeral party left the Boyer Home at 8 o'clock this morning for the church.

Engineer Irwin and Fireman Patterson, who were in charge of the engine that ran over Speicher, made a statement before Coroner Miller Saturday evening giving the details of the death. They were practically the same as published in this paper Saturday.

Peter Speicher fought in Company A, Eighty-eighth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, during the Civil War. He was drafted at Jenner Cross Roads in March, 1865, and was discharged in July of the same year.
